Internship for Credit Registration – How To
I just need to register my internship for credit, how do I do that?
Internships for credit are processed manually by the Office of the University Registrar after completion of the Internship Registration Form (https://www.american.edu/provost/registrar/pdf/upload/internship-form_aug2014v1.pdf) The form should be submitted or dropped off with one of our staff after being completed. The only piece that will be missing is on the second page – Academic Advisor signature. If the form is submitted incomplete, we will reach out to you via email telling you what information is missing. We will not be able to process the form until the necessary corrections are made.
Okay, I’m working on filling out the form – Who is my Faculty Supervisor?
Your faculty supervisor is the faculty member (professor) who is leading the internship class. You can attend the internship class on Wednesday to speak to the faculty member who will be required to give you permission to join the class (this is determined by the signing of your form) and who will provide you with the learning outcome of the internship/class.

What about the Internship Site Information?
Your site supervisor will be able to provide you with a description of the internship position (job description), as well as provide the required site information. Your site supervisor will also sign the second sheet before submission.
I completed my form, how do I turn it in?
You can drop it off to one of our staff in the Kerwin Hall – Information desk during regular business hours 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. You are also welcome to submit the completed form to firstname.lastname@example.org or to email@example.com for processing. Once the form is received and no additional corrections are required, we will submit the form on your behalf to the Registrar’s Office – you will be cc’d in the conversation alongside your academic advisor. Once the registration has been processed, we will inform you of this via email.
